Chevrons, diamonds and, occasionally, bows are appropriate. Wall to wall carpeting was common as were Persian carpets with geometric shapes. To give it a touch of vintage glamor, look for a small model of the zebra carpet accent. If you want a high contrast look, go for a bold colored carpet.
Art deco reacted against the use of the nouveau technique of the cakes and focused on high contrast colors. If you want to continue with a quieter room, you can go with a deep green or blue sea. Chocolate brown, pure white and ultramarine blue are also the colors of classic deco art. Remember to keep the base plate and crown molding trim in a deep color accent to accentuate the geometry of the room.

The bedroom furniture featured clean and straight lines with occasional curves and little ornamentation, compared to the rococo or art nouveau designs. The edges of a sideboard can be curved, for example, but the surfaces were smooth and simple. Sunburst headboards were common, with the spokes of the crown in a wooden design or board upholstered in a shiny fabric. Glass and chrome furniture or accents like handles add a bit of glamor.
